Wow, Lauren & David had such an incredible wedding! These two have such a sweet and honest love for each other. The way David looks at Lauren is enough to melt your heart! I found myself smiling all day just knowing that these two wonderful people have found each other, and will be spending the rest of their lives together. Their fabulous ceremony and reception were held at the regal Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. It was a day where I was able to witness a couple confirming their deep love, and watch the joining of two wonderful families. Lauren & David, I’m honored to have been part of such a monumental occasion! I’m so grateful to my incredible client, and now friend, Candace Lee, for connecting me with Lauren & David.

I just love these rings that have been passed down from David's family. The inscription means: "I am beloved and my beloved is mine." Love it!!

malibu wedding by joy marie | amber + rufus | xanadu estate

Amber & Rufus were married at his family’s magnificent Malibu Estate, Xanadu. Yes, the same Xanadu named after the 80′s movie starring Olivia Newton-John, who also previously owned the estate. The day was pure perfection! The ceremony was BEAUTIFUL, as Amber & Rufus recited sweet and moving vows overlooking the Pacific. Gorgeous chandeliers hung from the trees overhead, which provided a seamless transition from the beach ceremony into a vibrant, red reception that screamed ELEGANCE! Mindy Weiss Party Consultants did a phenomenal job transforming the estate into the perfect venue for a storybook wedding. I just love how this day was such an amazing reflection of Amber & Rufus’ personal styles. In addition to being gorgeous, these two are incredibly giving, and probably some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Amber & Rufus, I’m so glad our paths crossed. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of such a spectacular day!!

I cannot tell you how much I loved being a part of this wedding!! First of all, Anjali & Girish are two of the kindest, most gracious people ever. Second, Indian weddings are packed full of beautiful traditions, blessings and soooo much color and texture…everywhere you turn! Third, I just loved all of their family and friends that were so incredibly warm and welcoming.. Anjali & Girish’s ceremony and reception took place at the Historic San Francisco City Hall, which was the perfect, fabulous backdrop for an INCREDIBLE day! You may remember Anjali & Girish from their San Francisco engagement shoot! A couple of days before Anjali & Girish’s Wedding at the historic San Francisco City Hall, I had the privilege of joining their families just outside the city for a traditional Haldi Ceremony and Mehendi Celebration. The morning Haldi Ceremony included all of the elders giving Anjali their blessing, and then covering her in tumeric which, by tradition, is done to make the bride’s skin look more beautiful. Side note: Anjali is already very beautiful! This Mehendi Celebration is considered to be an essential element of an Indian wedding. Anjali & Girish were surrounded by family & friends who provided marital advice, and sang traditional songs for a prosperous married life. It was an evening full of love and laughter!!

2009 was an amazing year!! Like everyone’s year (and life in general), I had my ups & downs, but the constant bright spot was all of the TRULY incredible people, from all over the world, I had the privilege to meet & work with. While there are literally hundreds of images I wish I could post, I just finally finished my most difficult task so far this year- narrowing down my list of favorite wedding images from 2009. I can’t begin to tell you how hard it was to choose! I am just so grateful for all of my amazing clients! Thank you all for allowing me to be a part of telling your beautiful stories. Here’s a sneak peek (in no particular order) of some of my 2009 faves! May your 2010 be filled with life, love & lots of laughter!!

Julie & Aaron’s Santa Monica wedding at The Victorian was sooo beautiful! It was a day full of love, laughter and incredible family & friends. These two are such sweet, caring and super intelligent people…just check out their cake, which was an abstract mathematical formula design! Every last detail was such a beautiful reflection who they are; from the recycled yarmulkes to Julie’s vintage dress to her grandmother’s GORGEOUS jewelry. Thanks, Julie & Aaron, for allowing me to be part of such a special day! I hope you have an amazing time on your honeymoon!

Kim & Andy are two of those special people that you sometimes cross paths with in life who leave an indelible mark on your heart. They are both warm, kindhearted and madly in love with each other! Their wedding was an AMAZING day at the gorgeous TPC Valencia Golf Club. I knew after I connected with these two for their Seattle Engagement Session that their wedding day was going to be something special! And I wasn’t disappointed. Congratulations, Kim & Andy!
