What an amazing way to wrap up 2011! Cathryn & Gael recited their vows under some Oak and Olive trees and twinkle lights at Gridley Ranch in the gorgeous hills of Ojai, California. There was really nothing traditional about this day, and that’s what I loved most. It was two beautiful, incredibly talented, artistic people coming together to celebrate with just their closest friends and family. Gael happens to be an exquisite chef, and was responsible for an amazing dinner that was served that evening. Cathryn worked with Sonia Hopkins from XOXO Bride to bring her personal touches to every inch of the decor. I’m in love with the rustic chic Ojai palette textures they chose!  Congratulations, Cathryn & Gael! May you continue to create amazingness together for a lifetime! xoxo

You may remember this GORGEOUS couple from our Santa Barbara engagement session last spring. We had so much fun during their engagement shoot, and I can tell you first hand that these two are beautiful to the core. Unfortunately, I am not always available to shoot every one of my client’s wedding, but I am so grateful to have an incredibly talented group of artists that work with us. What an INCREDIBLE wedding Danielle & Brian had at one of the most amazing Orange County wedding venues, The Mission San Juan Capistrano!  I first met Brian a few years back, as a groomsmen at one of my favorite 2008 weddings, Danielle & Colin. Since then, he met the most beautiful Australian girl who moved overseas, and here we are. Such amazing people…such a magnificent day! I’m super excited to share that Munaluchi Bride Magazine featured Ambra and Aaron’s wedding in their just released Winter issue.  Although Ambra & Aaron live on the East Coast, and Aaron grew up on the West Coast, they chose Nashville (Ambra’s hometown) and the beautiful Scarritt Bennett Cultural Center for their destination wedding. I am so grateful that every wedding I photograph is completely unique! This wedding was a breath of fresh air; so non-traditional and intimate…such a sweet and special day! Just like our first shoot together!  Melissa & Scott had an intimate ceremony under a giant tree at the gorgeous Adamson House in Malibu. They whispered their vows quietly to one another with only their close family gathered around. There was no microphone, no bridal party, no public announcement…just Melissa & Scott softly declaring their love to one another. I have no idea exactly what they said, but it was an intense and beautiful exchange! It didn’t matter who else was there, they were there totally and completely just for each other. After the ceremony, buses unloaded their friends to celebrate their love with an amazing evening. This day was such an honest reflection of their special union- stylish, sophisticated and such sweet love. Congratulation Melissa & Scott! Thank you for letting me be a part of such a special day! xox

JD & Sandy got married at the beautiful Haiku Mill on the island of Maui. Haiku Mill is the ruins of one of the oldest sugar refineries in Hawaii, and an AMAZING location for couples who aren’t looking for the average Hawaiian beach wedding. JD & Sandy are about as far from average as they come! They’re both incredibly artistic, talented and spiritual souls. There were so many beautiful aspects of their creativity that they were able to incorporate into their wedding. For starters, THEY designed the wedding dress!! aaaand his tie, her earrings, the leather thingys on JD shoes…they brought and designed the linens…the list goes on and on! If that weren’t enough, JD & Sandy both sang to each other during the ceremony (Sandy’s solo was a surprise), and Sandy did a hula dance for JD during the reception. Ok, so enough chatter…here’s a few of my favorites from this very special day! Congratulations JD and Sandy!!! xox

And a huge thanks to Sylvia, owner of the Haiku Mill, for doing an amazing job coordinating this very special day, and allowing us the freedom to explore her beautiful property. The Haiku Mill is a one-of-a-kind treasure!

You almost didn’t notice because it seemed to somehow work right into all of the amazingness, but it actually rained the day of Sandy & JD’s Maui wedding. Thankfully, we had scheduled a “Day After ” shoot, and had plenty of time to get pictures of the two of them. I know a lot of people call this “Trash the Dress,” but I’m just not a big fan of “trashing” the dress.  What it really means is that you put your wedding clothes back on, and have plenty of time to go explore different areas, and that you don’t mind if the bottom of your dress gets a little dirty…aaand you can climb the banks of a lagoon if you want, which we did!!! Here’s a few that made me happy…

Natalie & Curt are soooo great…so kind, fun, easy-going and just gorgeous!
