I had so much fun with Cari and Jared during their Laguna Beach engagement session!  I’m running out of words to describe my engagement shoots, but I always leave them so full and excited about my clients! It’s such a great way for us to just get to know each other, and for me as an artist to develop that relationship of trust; to be allowed into the most intimate moments of my client’s lives! These two are just beautiful, fun loving and down to earth. I am so super excited for their Palm Springs wedding at the AMAZING Korakia Pensione hotel. The Korakia Pensione has been named one of the sexiest hotels in America, making it a perfect match for these two!

Maryam & Ajmal are two very special people….so kindhearted & generous!! I was so excited to be there to capture their traditional Afghan wedding in Falls Church, Virginia. You don’t have to speak Farsi to appreciate the rich traditions of their wedding, and the love & respect these two have for their families and their community. In lieu of wedding gifts, they asked their guests to make a donation towards helping the neediest people in their native homeland of Afghanistan. They ended up sending over $9,000 back to Afghanistan! So amazing! I had a great time with these two and their families!! Congratulations, Maryam & Ajmal!

2009 was an amazing year!! Like everyone’s year (and life in general), I had my ups & downs, but the constant bright spot was all of the TRULY incredible people, from all over the world, I had the privilege to meet & work with. While there are literally hundreds of images I wish I could post, I just finally finished my most difficult task so far this year- narrowing down my list of favorite wedding images from 2009. I can’t begin to tell you how hard it was to choose! I am just so grateful for all of my amazing clients! Julie & Aaron’s Santa Monica wedding at The Victorian was sooo beautiful! It was a day full of love, laughter and incredible family & friends. These two are such sweet, caring and super intelligent people…just check out their cake, which was an abstract mathematical formula design!  Every last detail was such a beautiful reflection who they are; from the recycled yarmulkes to Julie’s vintage dress to her grandmother’s GORGEOUS jewelry. Thanks, Julie & Aaron, for allowing me to be  part of such a special day! I hope you have an amazing time on your honeymoon!

My first conversations with Karnis & Alex involved their concepts for an “un-engagement shoot” with ideas about re-creating scenes from movies and famous paintings.  I knew after this first meeting that I LOVED these two, and after our Los Angeles engagement shoot, I loved them even more!!  So it was really no surprise when I arrived the morning of their wedding and Alex had blow-up toys to incorporate as props.  Karnis & Alex are incredibly creative, super fun, so sweet and absolutely perfect for each other.  Their beautiful wedding at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks was an amazing day and so much fun to be a part of. I was at Casa Hogar last monday,the 14th,taking photos for Rescate of whom my daughter is a member,they had a special Christmasparty for about 3 orphanages and had gotten sponsorship for a lot of the presents,anyway i was asked to do the photography,it was really a very special time to be able to capture the joy in these kids faces.Tomorrow i will put up some of those photos on facebook and you will recognise them of course.So how did i get to you,well one of the caretakers gave me a photocopy of a newsletter and it had your site on it,so voila here i am,and i just wanted to let you know that i really enjoyed my visit to your site,,i am obsessed with photography,i literraly eat,breath and sleep with it, sorry if i was too longwinded, but i recognize the passion in you , all the best to you and your family, John...(most of my friends in Belgium call me Jo,, as in Yo man.

Joy Marie Photography, and our family have been lending support to Casa Hogar Imperior de Amor for a little over a year. Over the Thanksgiving holiday, we had the privilege of being invited to meet these incredible kids, and the leaders who serve them, in person. Words can’t even begin to describe how much love was in that place. We went expecting to help out & serve for a few days, and came away with so much more. These kids have been through difficulties most of us will never have to face, yet they still have such an AMAZING capacity to love. Paul Cortez - My heart has been filled with joy as I watch this video. I have visited this particular orphanage with my son Xavier. I have been with these children only once and I felt sadness, but was happy for all of them knowing that there are people as you all helping with the caring of them. They are beautiful children and I know that God will bless each one of them.
